The Holocaust Memorial & Tolerance Center of Nassau County’s Statement on the Enactment of the Never Again Education Act

As antisemitism continues to rise in the United States, the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County applauds the enactment of the Never Again Education Act. We express our gratitude to New York Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, who authored it, and co-lead sponsors, Representatives Elise Stefanik, Don Bacon, and Salud Carbajal; Senator Jacky Rosen and co-lead sponsors Senators Kevin Cramer, Marco Rubio, and Richard Blumenthal; and to President Donald J. Trump, who signed it into law. This act will allocate $10 million in federal funding to further Holocaust Education and enable more teachers on Long Island to attend professional development workshops at HMTC.

Even as we face new challenges due to COVID-19, more acts of antisemitism are occurring and HMTC is continuing its work, combatting antisemitism, bullying and all forms of intolerance. HMTC’s Holocaust and Tolerance Education programs for students and adults have temporarily transitioned to a virtual format and already 33 schools on Long Island have taken part in our virtual programs. We look forward to additional opportunities that will come from the passage of the Never Again Act.
