Shortly after the Nazi occupation of Poland, Reuven’s girlfriend Zelda and her parents disappear, and Reuven’s father is forbidden from selling his handmade artisan umbrellas in his shop. One by one the Jews of Krakow are evicted from their homes and stripped of their rights, and the family realizes that escape is the only option. Through their fierce struggle against the terror of the Holocaust, Reuven’s determination to find Zelda melds the primal forces of love and violence into a powerful elixir of hope that offers them their only path to survival.
