Remember the past. Consider the future.
HMTC Mission
Founded in 1992 by Holocaust survivors, HMTC has been a vital educational resource for Long Island and beyond, dedicated to preserving the memory of the Holocaust and promoting upstander education, which teaches young people to acknowledge and respond to hatred and discrimination to create a better society. The museum houses a rich collection of survivor testimonies, artifacts, and exhibits that convey the powerful lessons of history. Through
interactive programs, lectures, and guided tours, HMTC fosters an understanding of the dangers of hatred and the importance of standing against anti-semitism and discrimination in all forms.
HMTC serves over thirty-five thousand students and professionals each year, including students from 5th grade through high school, all incoming Nassau and Suffolk Police Cadets, as well as nurses and more. We provide essential education on the Holocaust’s historical significance and its modern-day implications. It is the "go-to" center for Long Island public schools to meet their educational requirements of teaching the lessons of the Holocaust under State law. With the rise of anti-semitism misinformation, hate speech, and intolerance across social media platforms, it is imperative that TOGETHER we continue to provide credible, historically accurate, and thought-provoking discussions. A legacy secures an unparalleled opportunity to remember the worst event in human history by creating and providing high-quality education, podcasts, and digital content that address antisemitism, the Holocaust, and intolerance in today’s world.
Your legacy
HMTC will benefit from your planned giving by continuing its impactful mission:
Education Programs: HMTC teaches over 35,000 students and adults (including all Nassau and Suffolk Police Cadets) the lessons learned from the atrocities of the Holocaust. HMTC’s fact-based education and historical lessons are applied to current times to combat antisemitism and expose the dangers of unchecked bigotry.
Fighting Hatred: HMTC actively stands up against antisemitism and other groups who are the targets of prejudice and hatred, separating modern propaganda from truth.
Cultivating Leadership: Inspire students and professionals through education and training, to stand up for individuals and groups who have been subjected to antisemitism and those who have been unjustly treated. HMTC consistently recognizes and awards the actions of young leaders who are upstanders in their respective communities.
Professional Development Programs: HMTC pioneers innovative teaching initiatives by collaborating with leading experts and harnessing evolving technology to expand impact and reach.
Future Growth: Expand HMTC’s reach across Long Island, bringing Holocaust education to more distant school districts. Continue serving as a national model, guiding centers across the country in strengthening this vital education.
A legacy that stands against hate
Your legacy can be a lasting force for good. By including the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center (HMTC) in your estate plans, you help ensure that the lessons of the Holocaust and the fight against antisemitism and all forms of hate live on for generations to come.
HMTC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to using education, advocacy, and community engagement to combat antisemitism and bigotry in all their forms. We teach the Holocaust not just as history, but as a powerful warning of what can happen when hate, misinformation, and indifference go unchecked, and we apply these lessons to the modern world.
Through immersive exhibits, dynamic programs for students and professionals, and bold public advocacy, HMTC empowers individuals to become upstanders - those who speak out and act for justice and human dignity.
