Identical twin sisters Pearl and Stasha face a terrifying future when they arrive in Auschwitz in 1944 and immediately fall into the hands of Mengele. They try to comfort one another through their private language, but when Pearl disappears and the Red army liberates the camp, Stasha vows to spend the rest of her life looking for her. Together with Feliks, a boy bent on vengeance for his own lost twin, the two young survivors set out together through Poland’s devastation fueled by fury, fear and the powerful hope of bringing Mengele to justice.
Dr. Linda Burghardt, Scholar-in-Residence, will lead the discussion.
