When France falls to the Nazis in June 1940, newlyweds Ruby and Marcel find their marriage falling to pieces too. Ruby is an American ex-pat who moved to Paris for love, but when her Jewish neighbors suddenly thrust their 11-year-old daughter Charlotte into her arms, moments before they are arrested by the Gestapo, Ruby learns that in wartime, the ability to survive requires not only all her courage but the twin powers of resistance and hope, as well.
Dr. Linda Burghardt, Scholar-in-Residence, will lead the discussion.
