Set within the barbed wire of Auschwitz, this tale of forbidden love tells the story of a Nazi officer and a young Jewish prisoner who develop deep feelings for each other, despite the danger and against every camp rule. When Helena steps off the train onto the frozen ground, knowing she has only 24 hours to live, she is pulled out of line by a man in a gray uniform and fears the worst. But instead, as the snow falls around her, she is brought into a world beyond her imagination and saved, at least for now.
Dr. Linda Burghardt, Scholar-in-Residence, will lead the discussion.
