Explore the life and legacy of Petr Ginz, a gifted teenager whose creativity flourished under unimaginable circumstances. Through his drawings, stories, and secret magazine, Petr documented life in the Terezín ghetto amidst unimaginable circumstances. Tragically, Petr was murdered in Auschwitz at just sixteen, leaving behind a legacy of creativity and remarkable resilience.
This webinar examines how Petr’s work offers a unique glimpse into the experiences of young people during the Holocaust. It also explores the remarkable journey of his Moon Landscape drawing, which traveled to space in 2003, and the discovery and rescue of his prewar archives.
Participants Will:
- Gain an understanding of daily life and the experiences of children and young people imprisoned in Terezín through the perspective of Petr Ginz
- Explore primary sources, including Petr Ginz’s writings and artwork, that can be utilized in the classroom
- Be provided with guidance for further exploration of Petr Ginz’s story, Terezín, and the Holocaust
