Registration is $36 for the post-screening discussion of Deli Man. All proceeds go towards HMTC’s Holocaust and Tolerance Education programs for students and adults.

HMTC is also partnering with Ben’s to offer special meal boxes and Hanukkah dinners to attendees that can be picked up or delivered from your local Ben’s to enjoy the night of the program. You can also order items off of Ben’s ala carte menu as well. A portion of the proceeds from food orders from Ben’s will benefit HMTC. To place your order contact David Czegledi at Ben’s at dczegledi@bensdeli.net. Mention that you are ordering for HMTC’s 12/17 event.

Deli Man is a documentary film produced and directed by Erik Greenberg Anjou; the third work in his trilogy about Jewish culture. The celebrated preceding films are “A Cantor’s Tale” and “The Klezmatics - On Holy Ground,” which have to date screened at more than two hundred international film festivals and have been broadcast in the U.S., Israel, Canada and Poland. The principal guide of Deli Man is the effusive and charming Ziggy Gruber, a third-generation delicatessen man, owner and maven (as well as a Yiddish-speaking French trained chef) who currently operates one of the country’s top delis, Kenny and Ziggy’s in Houston. Kenny and Ziggy’s has been touted in press reviews ranging from “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” to the L.A. Daily News.

Learn how to bake delicious Challah in this virtual Challah Baking Demonstration by Kara Mindel. Challah is a special bread in Jewish cuisine, usually braided and typically eaten on ceremonial occasions such as Shabbat and major Jewish holidays.

Kara was inspired to learn to bake Challah by a local baker who she bought homemade Challah from every week. She decided to give it a try herself, and one Shabbat a friend came over to teach her. Kara has been baking Challah ever since.
